This year’s edition travels to the southern hemisphere, paying tribute to the very first sunrise of the new year, in New Zealand, and to the moments of connection, joy, and reflection that come with it.
Crafted from a precise combination of American and European oak casks seasoned with sherry, complemented by a touch of ex-bourbon American oak, The First Light reveals a bright and playful flavor profile: notes of berry compote and toasted marshmallows meet hints of native Manuka honey. The finish lingers with soft spice and toasted oak, inviting the drinker to savor both the whisky and the symbolic first glow of a new chapter.

Each A Night on Earth release features bespoke artwork inspired by the culture it celebrates.
For The First Light, The Macallan collaborated with New Zealand artist Bonnie Brown, whose vivid illustrations recall seaside barbecues, beach bonfires, and the crimson blossoms of the Pōhutukawa tree, symbols of summertime and togetherness in her homeland.
“When I created the artwork,”
Bonnie shares,
“I thought of my family’s New Year ritual: starting the day at the beach and diving into the ocean. It’s a cherished memory that embodies the Kiwi spirit of joy, freedom, and nature.”
Meticulously produced and rigorously tested, with an average of over 600 sensory checks before bottling, A Night on Earth: The First Light embodies The Macallan’s signature craftsmanship and unwavering dedication to quality.
