Katerina Shukshina & Her Wearable Art from Nature’s Materials

There’s something quietly radical in the way Katerina Shukshina turns the everyday into the extraordinary..

Working under the Instagram handle @shu_katerina, the Russian-based artist uses leaves, roots, peas, cabbage and vegetable stalks to craft pieces of wearable art that occupy the space between fashion, sculpture and poetry.

Nature, Memory & Material

Shukshina’s creative journey begins in the countryside of her youth. As she explains:

“Plants were a part of life … I looked at maple winglets as potential earrings, lichen patterns as a print in clothes.”

With no formal fashion training, she spent years teaching history before embracing her creative calling. Her process is intuitive, when a particular leaf or stalk catches her eye, she molds it into form without waiting for permission from trends or style editors.

The Work: Wearable, Poetic, Ephemeral

Some of her standout pieces:

  • A jacket composed entirely of cabbage leaves, photographed and subsequently fed to chickens.

  • A bag crafted from Brussels sprouts and other garden materials.

  • Shoes made from vegetables, roots and blooms: a radical reinterpretation of footwear.

The aesthetic is uncanny: familiar shapes (jackets, bags, shoes) made out of organic matter, which draws attention not just to the object but the idea of transformation, the material that once grew in the soil now drapes the body.

Our Thoughts: Why Her Work Matters So Much

  1. Material resonance: The choice of organic materials forces us to reconsider what fashion can be. These aren’t mass-produced synthetics; they are fragile, seasonal, specific. That fragility becomes part of the message.

  2. Wearability as concept: You correctly noted you’re unsure if the pieces are fully “functional”. That’s the beauty: they straddle the boundary of function and art. They ask: What if clothes reminded us of nature, time, and impermanence?

  3. Nature + identity: In a world of fast fashion, Shukshina’s work slows things down. She invites the wearer to embody nature, not just wear it. That act becomes both playful and profound.

  4. Narrative potential: Each piece tells a story of childhood, of garden seasons, of materials that were once alive. The work resonates with memory, place, texture.

Some Considerations

  • Durability & practicality: Indeed, many of her works are ephemeral: they may wilt or degrade. But that is part of their power: they ask us to value the moment, the fresh material, the now.

  • Audience & impact: While the pieces are more show-piece than everyday staple, they function brilliantly in editorial, exhibition and conceptual contexts. They may not fit a daily wardrobe, but they redefine fashion’s boundaries.

  • Sustainability angle: Her approach is low-impact, with natural materials, reuse and composting deeply embedded in her practice. That positions her work in the conversation of eco-fashion but also in a fine-art frame.

Final Thoughts

Katerina Shukshina is a reminder that fashion doesn’t always have to be about wear-and-wash, trend-and-discard. It can be about wonder, transformation, nature and story.

Her work isn’t about simply dressing a body, it’s about dressing an idea, a memory, a relationship with the earth.

If her pieces aren’t always “functional” in the traditional sense, they’re functional in a richer sense: they function to provoke, to enchant, and to invite reflection.

Where Innovation Meets Instinct...

Fashion has always flirted with transformation, but this time, it’s literal.

Fendi, a house known for merging luxury with experimentation, has previously explored water-reactive fabrics, but Trendt Vision takes that idea one bold step further.

Enter the reptile rain jacket: a piece that morphs when the rain hits it, revealing a scaled, sculptural texture reminiscent of reptilian skin.

What begins as a sleek, minimal silhouette evolves in real-time into something primal: a living, breathing texture that seems to awaken under water.

It’s fashion that reacts, adapts, and refuses to stay still.

A Study in Movement and Mutation

The concept feels almost poetic: a jacket that only shows its true colors in the rain.

Crafted with reactive coatings and layered synthetic membranes, the fabric reveals intricate scale-like embossing when wet, then returns to smooth form once dry.

It’s a perfect balance between technology and tactile design, a quiet rebellion against static fashion.

There’s something mesmerizingly instinctual about it: the way the piece shifts from minimal to creature-like, from city-ready to something wild. It’s not just outerwear; it’s wearable alchemy.

From Utility to Emotion

Trendt Vision’s collaboration feels like a love letter to metamorphosis..

It captures a future where function, art, and emotion intersect, where your jacket isn’t just protecting you from the rain, but performing it.

Imagine walking through the city as it starts to pour, your jacket subtly changing, catching the light like scales under a flash of thunder. It’s a piece that doesn’t just adapt to nature, it converses with it.

Beyond Fashion: A Symbol of Evolution

In a world obsessed with fast trends, this concept reminds us that true innovation lies in transformation.

The reptile rain jacket is more than a fashion experiment, it’s a glimpse into a future where clothing lives, breathes, and evolves with us.

Because childhood deserves adventure, warmth, and playful design..

Days are long, weather is wild, and little ones move fast.

Between puddle jumping on crisp autumn mornings, layering for school runs, and spontaneous forest treks after nursery, we need gear that keeps up and brings comfort, colour, and cleverness along the way.

Enter Polarn O. Pyret, the Swedish brand marrying form and function for the little explorers in our lives.

From windproof fleeces to waterproof shells, P.O.P crafts outerwear built for real kids, real seasons, and real style. Because layering beautifully is just as important as staying dry.

Here are our favourite P.O.P pieces this season, gear we love for full-on childhood adventures.

Padded Waterproof Coat

The foundational piece for winter’s unpredictability. A jacket with insulation, taped seams, and a design so sweet it doubles as daily outerwear. Perfect for school drops, snowball battles, or brisk city walks.

Waterproof Shell Jacket

When rain drizzles and wind whistles, reach for this lightweight shell. It’s your go-to outer layer: breathable, packable, and ready to throw on over fleeces without fuss.

Windproof Fleece Jacket

Soft, cozy, and with that subtle directional wind resistance we love. Layer this under a shell or coat to trap heat without bulk. Ideal for crisp mornings, indoor transitions, or muddy forest cafés.

Water-Repellent Outdoor Trousers

Rain pants that move like your child moves: bend, crawl, stomp, splash, repeat. Splash proof but not stiff, with clever cuts so boots don’t fight fabric.

Kids’ Shell Dungarees

Dungarees = magical. They’re not just cute, they’re practical. Snug over base layers, ready for forest floors, and perfect for growth, long in leg but adjustable in strap.

Waterproof Shell Mittens

Hands deserve shelter too. These mittens are waterproof, windproof, and designed to stay put when fingers are full. Great with mitts-in-pockets or glove transitions.

Merino Wool Base Layer Set

For those freezing mornings, layering starts here. Super soft, breathable merino wool regulates temperature naturally, keeping little explorers warm without overheating. Perfect under any outerwear or worn solo indoors.

Wool Terry All-in-One

A cosy essential that feels like a hug. This thicker wool layer locks in warmth while staying flexible and soft on skin. Ideal for chilly cabin mornings, ski holidays, or naptime snuggles after a long day outdoors.

Winter Beanie Hat

The final layer that completes every adventure look. Knitted in warm wool with a snug fit to keep out the cold, it’s a winter staple you’ll want in every colour.

Baby Snow Boots

For the littlest explorers. Soft, padded and weatherproof, these baby boots keep tiny toes warm and snug on every winter outing.

P.O.P doesn’t just make outerwear, they design freedom.

Each piece is a building block in a system of warmth, protection, and playful combinations.

Swap shells, fleeces, and accessories to match weather, mood, and activity.

For the messy moments, snow flurries, muddy boots, and all the wild in-between, this is gear you don’t dread washing.

Because childhood should be bright, warm, and unstoppable!

Glam Z Gala: The Runway Became a Playground of Confidence in L.A

Last weekend, the city of dreams turned its gaze toward a new generation of stars.

The Glam Z Gala Fashion Show lit up Los Angeles with color, confidence, and creativity, proving once again why it’s one of the most anticipated youth-fashion events in the U.S.

Forget quiet catwalks , this was energy.

From the thumping bass to the proud families in the audience, the Gala blurred the line between runway and celebration.

Models aged from toddlers to teens brought charisma to every step, walking with a level of poise that rivaled the adult runways happening across town!

A Runway with Heart

What makes Glam Z Gala stand out is its soul.

Beyond the shimmer of satin and sequins, this event champions self-expression and empowerment for young people. Every model took the stage with confidence and individuality, some even sharing short intros about who they are and what inspires them.

Parents, designers, and mentors filled the crowd, cheering louder than any front-row celebrity.

The show didn’t just display clothing; it showcased character, courage, and community.

Brands to Watch: Runway Highlights

Each brand brought its own personality to the stage, shaping the night into a kaleidoscope of style moments!

MONNALISA (FW25)

Featuring influencers Baylaa Rose and Britain Lee with @nishaandfam, Chyler Emery, Isabella & Ruby and Stella.

A standout for its sophisticated silhouettes and delicate fabrics, Monanlisa captured the essence of elegant youthwear. Flowing chiffon, pastel tones, and refined details gave each look a timeless charm like miniature couture for the modern child.

With its signature mix of sophistication and sweetness, Meet Marie offered polished looks in soft hues, romantic details, and feminine tailoring. It’s a brand that understands both fashion and feeling.

PLEAT (shoes by Quadsis) (FW25)

Featuring influencers Charlie and Kinsley with Amanda Stanton, and London.

As the name suggests, Pleat played with structure. Crisp lines, geometric cuts, and metallic fabrics gave the collection an architectural edge, bridging playwear and modern art.

LIA LEA (FW25)

Featuring influencers Aspen and Alaiya; and actress Jophielle Love (currently recurring on “Will Trent”).

Known for its lively colors and bold attitude, Lia Lea filled the runway with energy and movement.

Unexpected prints, and layered textures made the collection feel like a joyful daydream come to life.

SHE SHE (FW25)

She She turned heads with its street-chic attitude: oversized denim, slogan tees, and unexpected layering.

It’s the brand for cool kids who like to break rules, walk fast, and live loud.

PREPPY PALETTE (shoes by Quadsis) (SS26)

Featuring influencer Milana Spark.

Preppy Palette, always bringing varsity charm to the catwalk. Crisp button-downs, plaid skirts, and pops of color captured that classic American prep vibe, but fresher, younger, and cooler than ever.

Featuring influencers Taytum & Oakley Fisher, and Halston Fisher with Madison Fisher.

Luxury met mini-me fashion in Aigner Bugatti’s collection. Think sleek tailoring, logo details, and accessories that mirrored the grown-up world of design, reimagined with a youthful twist.

The Final Walk

As all models returned to the stage for the finale, the atmosphere turned electric: flashing lights, cheering families, and pure joy filled the space, a reminder that this was more than a fashion show. It was a statement: style starts young, and confidence is always in season.
