Oliver Furniture Camp Collection

A collection of furniture for little hearts with big dreams

With equal parts adventure and a fascination with Japanese craftsmanship and aesthetics, the founder of Oliver Furniture – designer and cabinetmaker Søren Rørbæk, has created a collection of furniture for little hearts with big dreams. Come aboard the Camp Collection, embracing knights from Timbuktu, magnificent princes and princesses, and adventurers of forgotten worlds.

For Søren Rørbæk, Camp Collection began with a fascination for natural materials such as canvas, leather, and wood.
„I wanted to create a collection that appeals to children‘s imagination. I started with everything I knew but quickly swept it all aside to let the process run free. The canopy references were here to stay, but a touch of Japanese aesthetics soon crept in. I am very pleased with the collection, which feels genuine and personal to me because it manages to create space within a space and at the same time does not limit the ability to continue building on the universe one wishes to create at home,“ says Søren Rørbæk.

A bed, dreams are made of

Central to the Camp Collection is the Camp canopy bed, which in its basic form is a day bed with what resembles a classic frame for a canopy, inviting all kinds of expressions, scenarios, and universes to unfold. The bed with the frame, beautifully crafted in oak with hidden screws and practical drawers underneath, can stand alone, but the construction truly shines with one of the four canopies created for the bed. The four canopies, which can be purchased separately, are designed to cater to unique personalities. The bed with a canopy creates both a safe haven for the night and a platform for daydreaming and playing during the day.

CAMP BED CANOPY KYOTO creates a simple, airy expression with a thin cotton fabric covering the ceiling and the two narrow sides. Just like the Japanese shoji doors in rice paper create the famous soft light, the bed is transformed with a blink of an eye into a breathing space of aesthetic calm, where all kinds of play can unfold like the dotted wings of a rare butterfly.

CAMP BED CANOPY SAHARA is created from a semi-transparent cotton fabric that allows light to filter in controlled amounts. But here, we are far from Kyoto and cherry trees and instead near Morocco‘s golden Atlas Mountains. Princes and princesses with hearts of gold and eyes like diamonds fly away on oriental carpets woven with threads that dreams are made of.

CAMP BED CANOPY WILD in thick, undyed canvas is perfect for the globetrotter exploring the Nordic wilderness or camping by a quiet lake surrounded by tall spruces and mountains, where the northern lights dance across the starry night sky. The fire roars in the dark night, and the backpack is packed with a canteen and leather-wrap-ped lunches, as one never knows what the journey may bring.

CAMP BED CANOPY CIRCUS is created from bold, undyed canvas with delicate stripes in green, enclosing the bed on all sides, while the roof, with the help of a hook in the ceiling, gives the canopy a distinctive circus look. When the canopy is rolled up on the sides or pushed aside and tied to the bed frame, it becomes like a circus ring, where grand performances can take place.

A bed with possibilities

Oliver Furniture is committed to creating products that last for generations, producing aesthetically sustainable furniture with a long lifespan. When the sailors and adventurers have outgrown the Camp canopy bed, for example, it can easily be converted (additional purchase) into a simple day bed with a low frame on the sides and back made of beautifully shaped oak dowels. Additionally, a cylinder pillow for the sides and a bed snake in undyed, thick canvas, winding along the entire edge of the bed, can be purchased to create a soft, stylish, and embracing sofa environment.

From toddler to teenager

The bed‘s 60 x 180 cm dimensions make it suitable for a child up to the teenage years. At the same time, the bed is lower than most, and with the bed rail on the side, the toddler who outgrows the crib will still feel safe and secure. With its generous dimensions, there is also room for mom or dad to join the journey when the dream becomes too real, and one needs a comforting arm around the narrow shoulders. Because even though one is big, they are small, and even though one is brave, they are most so when the bed is an anchor in a safe harbour.

Chairs, tables and clothes rail

The collection also includes a chair inspired by the classic field or director‘s chair, with a frame in oak and a seat and back in rich, undyed canvas. The same construction can be seen in the stool with a classic x-frame in oak and a canvas seat and the bed tables in two hights with a classic x-frame in oak and tabletop in either oak or white-painted MDF. In addition, there are a toddler play table and a junior desk. Finally, there is a clothes rail that design-wise resembles the bed frame, with space for ballet shoes and hiking boots on the two shelves at the bottom.
