Djeco Celebrates Its 70th Anniversary!

The Famous Toy Company Is Celebrating Its 70th Birthday This Year, And Still Retains Its Childlike Spirit, Creativity And Daring.

In 1954, at a time when few mothers were starting their own business, Véronique Michel-Dalès created “Les Jeux du Djeco”.

Her collection, which was both educational and fun, was an instant success and Véronique’s talent was rewarded in the 1960s with 4 Toy Oscars.

In 1989, Frédéric Michel-Dalès, who had been chief tester of his mother’s inventions throughout his childhood, took over the family business, which was dormant at the time.

With a heritage of fantasy and imagination, he imported new toys to France from all over the world then he decided to create products that could not be found anywhere else.

Today, in the historic Parisian workshops nestling near the Seine, 70 enthusiasts work very seriously, without ever taking themselves too seriously, to amaze children all over the world. With total freedom and no regard for commercial imperatives, they come up with funny, beautiful and intelligent games for young and old alike.

Around this talented team gravitates a galaxy of illustrators, designers and inventors who bring their own touch of madness and artistic flair to the 3 catalogues: : “Toys & Games”, “Arts & Crafts” et “Life Style”.

When it comes to production and safety, Djeco is not playing around: its requirements go beyond international standards and regulations.

Committed to minimising its impact on the environment, the brand optimises its packaging and contributes to the preservation of forests, with the vast majority of its wood and cardboard products being FSC® certified.

Djeco, a French brand with a cult following, knows no borders and is exported to over 70 countries.

With packaging and game rules translated into 10 languages, Djeco products are sold in traditional toy shops, concept stores, bookshops and museums around the world, including the Louvre in Paris, the Tate in London and the MoMA in New York.

And because good things never come alone, a magic ticket will be slipped into 70 “La Petite Boutique Djeco” boxes.

This 100-piece jigsaw puzzle features the brand’s iconic toys in the tender, charming style of illustrator Tinou Le Joly Sénoville.

Each winner will not only have the chance to choose a gift from among the toys in the “Djeco Gazette” catalogue but will also have the pleasure of helping 70 children in hospital benefit from their experience. In all, 770 gifts were distributed!

Djeco has been a partner of the “Blouses Roses” association for many years. Djeco enables its volunteers to regularly spoil children in hospital.

After 7 decades, the brand’s little lucky gecko is ready to enchant many more generations of children.
