Bigjigs Toys Celebrates 40 Years Of Play

Bigjigs Toys is celebrating 40 years in the toy-making business, honouring its family values, dedication, and perseverance legacy.

To mark this milestone, the company is set to launch over 100 new products throughout the anniversary year, showcasing its commitment to innovation and creativity.

Founded in 1985 by Peter and Liz Ireland, Bigjigs Toys began as a side project.

While working as teachers, the couple handcrafted wooden puzzles in their garden shed and sold them at markets and fairs across the UK.

Their sons, Sam and Tom, joined the business after university, bringing fresh ideas and a shared commitment to continuing the family legacy.

Sam Ireland, now Operations Director, reflects, “Growing up alongside the business, I saw firsthand the effort and care that went into every toy. It’s incredible to see how far we’ve come.”

As part of the anniversary celebrations, Bigjigs Toys will unveil its debut Montessori range this year, featuring wooden toys designed to inspire independent learning.

The 2025 product lineup will include new plush toys from the Simply Scandi range, dress-up and role-play sets, musical instruments, outdoor activities, educational puzzles, pocket money toys, a bespoke London-themed collection, and the exciting new Monster Rail range.

“2025 will be a particularly special year for us,” says Liz. “These new products celebrate the creativity and innovation that have defined Bigjigs Toys for 40 years, and we can’t wait to share them with the world.”
