In a world where the UK bids farewell to approximately 711,000 tons of textiles annually – with nearly half ending up in landfills – children’s knitwear brand Talou is shaking things up.
Charity shops often receive donations that are, let’s face it, a tad too “loved” to resell.
Enter Talou, swooping in like a fashion superhero to give these damaged goods a second chance.
By teaming up with Save the Children’s boutique shops, they’re collecting these woolly misfits and combining them with their own pre-consumer waste – the result? Fresh, fabulous yarn ready to be knitted into adorable outfits for the next generation of style icons.
says Ellie Whitehead, Founder and Director of Talou.
Lynsey Scott, Stock Generation Manager at Save the Children, adds
This collaboration isn’t just about reducing textile waste – though that’s a fabulous perk.
It’s about championing circular fashion, where materials are endlessly repurposed, repaired, or recycled.
Talou and Save the Children are proving that with a little creativity, yesterday’s fashion faux pas can become today’s must-haves.
Talou crafts beautifully designed children’s knitwear for cool, conscious little explorers.
Helping parents contribute positively to the planet through their children’s wardrobes, Talou is on a mission to create a guilt-free, joyful shopping experience that emphasizes circularity.
Mary’s Living & Giving shops were set up with retail expert Mary Portas, where 100% of the profits go to Save the Children.
Every item donated helps children reach their full potential and creates lasting change in the UK and around the world.
