Maísa Champalimaud’s Pop Icons Hit Lisbon in Full Colour

From Frida To Agassi, Maísa’s Latest Exhibition Is A Vibrant Tribute To Icons And Inner Journeys!

Campo de Ourique Gets a Pop Art Power-Up

Lisbon’s art scene is about to get a jolt of colour and charisma as Maísa Champalimaud unveils her latest exhibition, #POPtrait, at Galeria Óriq.

Running from May 8 to 24, this vibrant showcase features over 60 portraits of cultural icons – from music legends to literary giants – rendered in Maísa’s signature bold and expressive style.

Art Meets Athleticism

Maísa’s creative process is as dynamic as her subjects.

Drawing inspiration from disciplines like yoga, running, and tennis, she approaches her art with the same intensity and repetition found in athletic training.

Each piece is a result of this rigorous practice, reflecting a journey of experimentation, error, and refinement.

Icons Reimagined

The exhibition features a diverse array of personalities, all reinterpreted through Maísa’s pop art lens.

From small sketches to large-scale canvases, each work captures the essence of its subject while inviting viewers to see them in a new light.

A Personal Touch

“Creating is an act of resistance and surrender”

says Maísa

“It’s a practice that renews with each stroke, like running towards something invisible but inevitable. My life and the people I encounter, directly or indirectly, are also a source of inspiration, represented in this exhibition by characters who, in some way, touch me.”
