It’s chic, heartfelt, and officially next-level.
He fell hard for Melides, not just the shoes.. Discovering the sleepy Alentejo hamlet over a decade ago, Louboutin impulsively bought a fisherman’s cabin there after crashing (literally) into a sand shoulder. It was love at first sight.
He wanted a dinner spot. Didn’t he get a hotel instead?
Sure. Louboutin just needed a bistro on-site. But the mayor had bigger plans. Enter Vermelho: 13 rooms, lush gardens, and décor heavy on azulejos, antiques, and that signature shade of red.
Not exactly “touristy chic.”
He carefully designed Vermelho to feel like a home, not a resort. No club music, just locals, high art, and quiet elegance – courtesy of his friends and architects.
Now, private villas are joining the scene.
Post-hotel, Louboutin introduced inspirational gems like La Salvada and La Maison des Bateaux. Think secluded retreats filled with art, architecture, a pool, and the kind of stillness dreams are made of.
He’s not just owning property, he’s protecting a legacy.
As Melides gains fame, Louboutin co-founded Intertidal Melides to fight overtourism and preserve the village’s authenticity. Because real beauty is rooted in belonging, not mass marketed luxury.
